Australian Winemaker of the Year 2022 and Wine Company of the Year 2022 Awards

Winestate Magazine’s annual Wine of the Year awards have just been announced and we are thrilled to be recognised as joint-finalists for Australian Winemaker of the Year 2022 and Wine Company of the Year 2022!

This is wonderful recognition for our small family owned Estate which was established in 1975 by Annette’s parents Graham and Merilyn Hutton. It’s a true pleasure to continue to craft the award winning wines you like to drink!

Look out for the print edition of the Winestate Annual available on newsstands in January, featuring our top ranking wines.

Winestate Magazine Rank Australia's Best Cabernet and Bordeaux Blends

Winestate Magazine has just released their Cabernet and Bordeaux Challenge results and we were fortunate to have four wines rank highly in their respective categories. Winestate Magazine has been the definitive guide to Australian and New Zealand wine since 1978, with independent panel reviews. Wonderful recognition for our 2001 and 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon, scoring 98 points and judged equal top alongside iconic wines such as Chateau Lafite Rothschild.

A sensational class! “These are cracker wines with fine serious tannins perfectly matching varietal expression fruit,” said one judge. “A pleasure to judge,” said another

We received high praise for our new release Pedro Ximenez with 94 points and our Artizan Rare Muscat and Museum Rare Muscat, which both recieved 98 points and equal top placings.

“Another group of exceptional wines,” enthused one judge. “This is Australian history in a bottle!” “The older wines have amazing, aged material which is a privilege to enjoy,” said another. “Do yourself a favour and get a bottle to try. These wines are made by producers who are passionate about producing this style. Equal Top Wine - World's Greatest Shiraz Challenge

Equal Top Wine - World's Greatest Shiraz Challenge

Our 2001 Shiraz Cabernet has done it again! Equal top wine in The World’s Greatest Shiraz Challenge in the latest issue of Winestate Magazine.
[September 2021]

This award winning shiraz blend has aged gracefully - achieving 5 Stars and 98 points in both The 2015 and 2021 World's Greatest Shiraz Challenge. In the latest competition it was equal top to Penfolds Grange and Henschke Hill of Grace - a great accolade for an 'aged' Margaret River wine from one of the region's smallest, but most highly regarded boutique wineries.

SHOP - 2001 Shiraz Cabernet

"A beautifully matured wine. Makes you think of a comfortable old leather chair. It is generous and brooding and drinking very well right now."
98 Points Winestate Magazine - Worlds Greatest Shiraz Challenge 2021

“An exceptional group of concentrated wines.” Agreed the judges. “I have not seen a better flight of shiraz and syrah wines with such a lovely level of elegance and concentration.” said one judge. “These are not over extracted and show beautiful balance of expensive, appropriately handled oak, with the expressive fruit.” “Again the aged wines showed their pedigree, fabulous wines of great character and consistency.” Said another.

Nominated for Wine of the Year - 98 Points

Nominated for Wine of the Year - 98 Points

2017 Reserve Chardonnay
In the latest edition of Winestate Magazine our Chardonnay has been awarded 98 points and is in the running for Wine of the Year. We are very proud of this wine and it’s string of accolades. The pristine fruit is intense and layered with minerality, smoky oak and linear acidity which form a taut framework that hallmarks future greatness.

A still amazingly youthful, fruit driven style with lovely flow and balance of pretty pear and stone fruit varietal characters. The acid backbone ties it all together.
98 Points Winestate Magazine 2021

Hint of bay leaf, snappy green apple and grapefruit to both nose and palate. There’s a terrific Margaret River purity of fruit expression. Purity without being a zinger. Some apple skin bloom and a vinous, wild lift to the finish. Very tightly wound, but pure and long!”
98 Points Decanter Magazine - Exceptional

Big, bold grapefruit, peach and apricot aromas here with a gently flinty and toasty edge. The palate has a very composed, seamless and fresh feel with juicy, focused and smooth-honed peaches and lemons.”
James Suckling
