Reserve Shiraz 2016
Gralyn Estate is regarded as one of Margaret River’s top Shiraz producers. The first Shiraz was vintaged in 1979 and time has proven these wines have the ability to age beautifully in the bottle. This ‘Reserve’ is a selection of the ‘best of the best’ barrels. Deep purple crimson in colour, perfumed with spice, blackberry, plum and cedary oak. The palate is supple, well balanced and richly flavoured with ripe black fruits, cedar and spice. A core of sweet berry fruit and finely structured tannins support a long, persistent finish. This wine will reward careful cellaring.
"This old vine fruit has been co-fermented with the aromatic tannin-firming viognier. It's created a highly perfumed lift with a mix of spices and peppery black cherry and dark plummy fruit. The palate is quite firm and tight, which could be the impact of the viognier, but there is depth and power there waiting to emerge. Seamless and perfectly integrated."
