Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2008
Museum Release
An icon wine from an exceptional Margaret River vintage, the 2008 Gralyn Estate Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is a benchmark of elegance, richness, and cellaring pedigree. Crafted from a strict selection of the best barrels, this Museum Release reflects the strength and finesse of old vine Cabernet grown in the premium Wilyabrup subregion.
Dense dark crimson in colour, the bouquet is layered and complex—showing blackcurrant, dark plum, cedar and violets. The palate is rich and powerful, yet plush and velvety, with a core of sweet fruit and fine savoury tannins that support a long, persistent finish.
Celebrated globally, this wine was awarded 5 Stars in the 2019 Winestate World Cabernet Challenge, placing alongside First Growth Bordeaux icons such as Châteaux Haut-Brion, Mouton Rothschild and Lafite Rothschild. Judges noted it was “still very much alive” with “sweet fruit, earthiness, figs and cigar box oak wrapped in super fine soft tannins.”
Ray Jordan praised its refined structure: “One of the more elegant and stylish of the Gralyn Cabernets… velvety feel in the mouth, well-bred and polished in all aspects.”
Awarded 5 Stars again in 2012, the wine was described as having a “huge, dense palate with excellent depth of varietal fruit wrapped in fine tannins.”
This Museum Release is drinking beautifully now and will continue to evolve with further cellaring.
