Rare Tawny Fortified NV 375mL

$75.00

True tawny in colour, with a lifted bouquet reflecting the age and class of the wine. Caramel, coffee, chocolate and spice aromas are predominant. The palate is vibrant and textured with a lingering aftertaste produced by many years maturation in small oak casks. Complex rancio and roasted nut characters perfectly balance the long finish.

Accolades
"A very rich but fresh style. Great colour showing a green rim; smelling and tasting of prunes and raisins with nice nuttiness and delicious hints of orange peel." 95 Points
Winestate Magazine, June 2022

"Deep mahogany colour with a green tint suggesting age at the rim. Christmas spices, dried peel and nutty aromatics. Deep and weighty on entry, a powerful wine that sits with dark spices and a significant rancio aged character. Goes very long and drying into the finish" 92 Points
Stuart Knox, The Real Review 2022

"Deep tawny colour with a dark centre and tawny-orange rim. The bouquet is rich and complex with lots of rancio as well as matured fruit characters, spices and burnished woody, old leather furniture touches. It's rich and full on the tongue with density and weight, the sweetness balanced well by tannin and rancio on a long and drying finish." 92 Points
Huon Hooke, The Real Review 2021

“Subtle oakiness, fresh aromas of raisins and citrus with nice nuttiness. Beautifully aged palate has a seamless balance of nutty rancio flavours. Good acidity.” 5 Stars “An excellent class of Australian tawnies! The best were Grand rare old classics with excellent maturation character.”

Winestate Magazine, Fortified Tasting 2016

“The Gralyn Estate NV Tawny was the top wine in class. It showed great complexity with freshness and balance.”
Judge, Wine Show of Western Australia 2017

“An aromatic combination of liqueur, spicy Shiraz fruit and chocolate on the nose and flavours of caramel and toffee with a drying finish. Shows good freshness its age.” 5 Stars “We have better ‘ports’ than Portugal”, suggested one judge.
