Hermitage Vintage Port 1982
Museum Release
A rare museum release of Gralyn Estate’s 1982 Hermitage (Shiraz) Vintage Port, offering a remarkable window into the estate’s fortified winemaking legacy.
Now over four decades old, the wine is deep brick-red in colour, with a lifted bouquet of liquorice, redcurrant and roasted coffee. The palate is richly textured and complex, with robust tannins and a dry, persistent finish. Extended bottle maturation has revealed beautifully evolved characters, with the wine continuing to develop gracefully.
Vintage Port is crafted for longevity, requiring decades of cellaring to reach peak maturity. This 1982 release now displays extraordinary depth and concentration, with potential for further ageing.
Serving Suggestion:
Stand the bottle upright prior to opening to allow natural sediment to settle. Use a port (church-key) opener to remove the cork carefully. Decant gently. As older ports require less breathing time, we recommend enjoying within a few hours of opening.
