Winemaker's Tasting NotesA single vineyard wine, elegant, complex and finely crafted. Pale straw-green in colour, aromatic with white stone fruit, matchstick, citrus and spice. Wild yeast fermentation and maturation in French oak barriques has produced a finely textured palate. The pristine fruit is intense and layered with minerality, smoky oak and linear acidity to form taut framework that hallmarks future greatness. It is very rewarding to see this wine top the list of 60 Western Australian Chardonnays in Decanter Magazine.
Hint of bay leaf, snappy green apple and grapefruit to both nose and palate. There's a terrific Margaret River purity of fruit expression. Purity without being a zinger. Some apple skin bloom and a vinous, wild lift to the finish. Very tightly wound, but pure and long! Sarah Ahmed Pink grapefruit and a hint of Turkish delight on the nose. Focused palate with more pink grapefruit acidity and gently creamy nuances. Bright, fresh and linear on the palate, there is a clean finish but with an exotic air fo Istanbul fragrancy. Is it a classic Western Australia Chardonnay? No but I love it! Roger Jones Distinctive, with a youthful, lightly smoky, savoury, complex nose. Ditto on the palate, where tightly wound, herbal apricot fruit is underpinned by distinct oaky-nutty notes. A little hard to call at this stage, but clearly with this level of intensity, it has great potential. Anthony Rose
