Red Label Cabernet
Winemaker's Tasting NotesA vibrant, full-bodied dry red wine, vintaged entirely from Gralyn old vine Cabernet Sauvignon planted in 1975. Deep purple-crimson in colour, with red fruit aromas of raspberry, redcurrant and strawberry, with cedar oak and spice in the background. The palate is intensely flavoured and well structured, with fine savoury tannins supporting a long, persistent finish. May be enjoyed now or cellared for a further 15 years. Decanting is recommended for 1 hour before service to allow the wine to breathe and open, to reveal its excellent balance and rich flavour profile. The red and gold label symbolises wealth and prosperity, making this wine the perfect celebratory gift.
This is one of the best cabernets produced from Gralyn. It's a little lighter and more controlled than previous vintages showing an excellent balance of fruit and dusty oak. Precise grainy tannins and a bay leaf and tobacco-like character on the nose. Lovely precise and focused palate structure with a very long finish. 96/100
